Some friends and I went to a midnight showing of the Simpsons movie on Friday morning. I have to admit that I was a little worried about the movie, I am a long time Simpsons fan and was almost sure it would not meet my expectations. Those expectations basically consisted of me wanting the movie to be “One long Simpson’s episodeâ€. In my opinion the outcome could not have been any better, there were things in the movie that you would not see in the normal episodes due to pesky FCC (Cussing, some nudity).
If you are a Simpsons fan (or even if you aren’t) go see this movie for a good laugh.

A friend of mine found this video on YouTube – it’s a terrible commercial for a job fair that uses a lot of slang, the video got quite popular at work so I decided to make a soundboard for it. This is my first attempt at a soundboard but I like how it came out.

So most of the people that visit my site know that I am an avid World Of Warcraft player – I have played the game since release and still enjoy it to this day.
With that said, I have a video to share today – a MUSIC video! The name of the band is Level 70 Elite Tauren Chieftain (A huge World Of Warcraft reference for you non players). To avoid confusion, the Murlock are a race of creatures that players can kill in the game, some can even take them as pets.

A friend got me a good deal on Windows Vista Ultimate so I decided to go for the upgrade. I am generally not an early adopter of new technology however my new system has a 64Bit processor and I would like take advantage of this. I know what some of you are saying “ Linux is 64bit†ya, I know however most of the applications and games that I use don’t have a Linux client so that won’t work.
I reformatted my drive and installed Vista Ultimate 64Bit yesterday evening, the install was simple and to the point. I had no hardware issues and because there are not 2 service packs to download (XP) I was done installing in about an hour – so far so good! The only issue I have run into at this point is one application that would not run, “Tag & Rename†it’s an mp3 tagging software that I have grown accustom to using – no worries, the developer already released a Vista patch and it’s back up now.
After the install was complete I started poking around the OS and found several things that I liked:
* Build in screen capture software (NOT Print screen!)
* Windows Aero visual elements – VERY cool
* Very nice search / indexing features
* Windows Photo gallery software (Allows you to edit / resize photos etc)
* Windows Sidebar with “Gadgets†– Sorry Mac fans, I know this is a complete rip of Widgets
* Built in benchmarking software – Windows Experience index (My score is 5.3 on a scale of 1-5.9)
* Much easier to register Windows
There are a ton of other things that I am either overlooking or just have yet to discover however I did have a few annoyances that needed to be fixed:
* User Account Control – This little app has its heart in the right place but is just too damn annoying to be of any use to me, it tries to protect you from doing things like running exe files that windows does not trust or asking you 2 times if you REALLY want to install a software application, this was the first thing I turned off (Under Control Panel -) User Accounts click on the “Turn User Account Control on or offâ€).
* I mentioned above that I really like the new Windows Aero however it was not enabled by default after I completed the installation and this took me a few minutes to figure out. Given that this is a new and very popular feature I would think MS would enable it but I guess the fact that it requires a nice video card warrants them turning it off. If you need to enable it just right click on your desktop and go to “Personalizeâ€, click on the Windows Color and Appearance option and set your color scheme to “Windows Aero†– Please note that this will not work with Windows Vista Home Basic or a system with an old video card, check the Windows site for full details.
* My last complaint is something that most people have already heard – Vista is a resource hog, at any given time it is using 30% of my 2GB of RAM. This is only a minor annoyance however I feel it’s worth mentioning.
You can probably tell from my blabbering that I like Vista, I feel that the upgrade was worth the cash. If you are thinking of moving to Vista the only advice I can give you is to make sure your hardware will support it.

Hard to believe I know – when it comes to games, you will normally get what you pay for. The contrary to this argument is called Dungeon Runners – a game published by NCSoft (City of Heros, Auto Assault etc..) and it is 100% free to download and play.
Before you get too excited – there is an optional $5.00/month fee you can pay in order to get things like bank space, stackable potions and better gear and in my opinion it’s well worth the cash, but you can play for free and have just as much fun. It’s not hard to explain what Dungeon Runners is. Simply put, Dungeon Runners is a 3D version of Diablo II with a twist of WoW and a ton of humor.
An example of the humor:
In WoW or Diablo II you may find a sword with a name like “Short blade of the monkey†well in Dungeon Runners this sword may have a name similar to “Cardboard Kitchen Knife of the Taintâ€.
All in all this is a great game that I plan on playing for a while, at least until the folks over at Flagship Studios get Hellgate: London ready for release.
