The latest addition to the X-Men dynasty is more action packed and thrilling than the last two resulting in movie that was fun to watch and kept my attention the whole time. With that said, there were a few things I did not like about it, some of the X-Men lose their powers (I’m not going to mention which ones) and that’s a little depressing, other than that I liked the movie.

I really don’t know why the latest addition from this series is doing so poorly in theaters – I guess it could have something to do with the strange off screen antics of Tom Cruise. I will be the first to admit that I don’t necessarily agree with his religious or afterbirth views but I can’t help but to point out that it’s not Tom Cruise I go to see – it’s Ethan Hunt (who by all standards is the mans man).

The movie is one of the best from the series in my opinion – Philip Seymour Hoffman is the ultimate bad guy and as usual Ethan Hunt pulls off an array of insane and impossible stunts. If you are looking for an action packed, insane stunt having, cool gadget flaunting movie – this one is for you.

Having never read the book I really did not know what to expect from this film but after watching it I can honestly say I enjoyed it. It’s not the type of move that I will be adding to my DVD library however it was a great “go out and see a movie because there is nothing else to do film.

If you are looking for a longer movie with a good plot and decent acting then go check this one out.

I have had time in the evenings to see A LOT of sites and tourist type areas, I also had a whole weekend to see the stuff that is not open during the nighttime hours. I have taken a ton of pictures and aside from missing Andrea (She arrived today!!) have had a wonderful time.

Take a look at the gallery for my pictures so far!

Hotel Hell

The employees at our London office recommended that I move to a hotel that is closer to downtown London, this would allow me to hang out with them more and keep me closer to the city, sound great huh? So I gather my belonging up and head to a hotel I found online, I was looking for it while working so I did not put as much time into the research as I should have so I blame myself for the outcome.

I took the tube (subway) to where the hotel is suppose to be only to find that there are actually 2 privately owned hotels with the same name in London, of course the one I arrived at was not the right one. Lucky for me (or so I thought) the concierge knows where the right one is! So I head into the direction that he tells me to go and after about 2.5 hours of walking with ALL of my stuff I realize that that guy was full of crap.

It turns out that I was close to the hotel but a HUGE park (which I walked AROUND) is between me and my destination – I took a cab ($40.00 OUCH). Once I arrived at the hotel I was so relieved to be “homeâ€? I overlooked some of the obvious signs of a crappy hotel. After checking in I finally pickup on a sign that I am indeed not in a nice hotel – the elevator was about 4×4 and BARELY held me and my luggage. I took a long, dark hallway to my room only to find that the lights do not work in the room – a hotel employee came up and got the lights to work and I immediately wish he had not.

I am faced with something that I have always feared when traveling – a dusty, extremely ugly and smelly room. I set my stuff down on the table and immediately called the person that takes care of my travel and ask them to get me the hell out of here, an hour later I am on my way to the Holiday Inn across the street from my original hotel (Crown Plaza).

On a side note – the Holiday Inn is a nice hotel but the staff is awful – I am moving back to Crown Plaza in 3 days!

Pictures of what I call “hell (the hotel I almost had to stay in!)

Going to London

The company I work for is sending me to London for 2 weeks in order to train a few people in our office there. This will be my first trip outside of the USA so I am pretty excited and to be honest not the least bit nervous (people keep asking me if I am nervous).

I am typing this post from the San Antonio airport (in Word because their wireless is down… Even if it was up they want you to pay to use it…) so far things have gotten off to a slow start, the rain this morning slowed things down enough to cause me to miss breakfast with my parents and caused me to have to withdraw the US currency I wanted to take with me at the airport so I had to pay a service fee of $2.00 on top of that I hit the wrong button on the ATM and had to do 2 transactions resulting in a $4.00 total service fee. There is just something about having to pay machine money to access my funds that I don’t like.

Because I missed breakfast with my parents, I was starving by the time I got past security so I had the Huevos Rancheros plate at Las Palapas which was great, probably the last bit of good Mexican food I will have for a while :-(

Itinerary (From San Antonio to London)
Airline: United
Depart San Antonio at 12:01pm
Arrive in Washington at 3:24pm
Leave Washington at 5:58pm
Arrive in London at 6:20am (Sunday morning)
Total estimated flight time: 10 hours and 46 minutes

San Antonio’s north side had a pretty large storm roll through it on Thursday night (5/4/2006). Our apartment faired better than some places however we did get a ton of pea sized hail, it even broke a window.

The thousands of small hail chunks bombarding our apartment sounded just like small pieces of gravel hitting the windows, it’s a wonder that we did not lose more than one.

Here are some pics I shot:

You can see them all in the Gallery
